Bowling (Tokyo Port Bowl) 2
Monday, September 23 09:30 - 12:00
In this project, you will bowl a few games with young adults with intellectual disabilities (not physical). The athletes are part of the Special Olympics Nippon Bowling Team. A Special Olympics coach will be overseeing each team (two lanes). They will maintain the pace and coach the athletes in the team. You will be placed in a team along with 4-5 athletes with mild disabilities. As a volunteer, we would like you to interact with the athletes while you bowl about 3 games. One way to interact is to help them understand/follow bowling rules. Another way is to talk to them during the game to increase their social and communication skills. Also, please encourage them if they are not bowling well and celebrate when they do play well. Don’t forget to have fun!
