Motor Development Program - Gym #2

In this project, you will help elementary children with intellectual disabilities (not physical) get physical exercise. You will be paired with a special needs child and assist the child to perform the physical activities which are led by Special Olympics coaches.

Location: National Olympics Memorial Youth Center
** Please gather at Gymnasium #2 in Athletic Building.
** The closest station to the gymnasium is Sangubashi Station.

Event Guidelines: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

English Conversation For The Blind - 1

This is an English conversation class for about 15 adult students who are either blind or visually impaired. The lead teacher has developed a program fit for the blind. You will have the opportunity to chat with the students and share your experiences with them.

Event Guidelines: Volunteers must be at least 10 years old and be able to speak English fluently.

Tohoku Project: 2/4-2/5

Saturday, February 4    06:30 - 15:30

This project is 2 days long: Saturday, 2/4 to Sunday, 2/5.

Meeting Place: On 2/4, please meet us at 6:30 AM outside Villa Fontaine. It is next to Roppongi Itchome Station exit 2 (Namboku Line).
Accommodation: Toyoko Inn, Sendai 1-Chome 1-Ban (Sendaishi Aoba-ku Chuo 1-1-10 TEL: 022-726-1045)
Participation fee (transportation & lodging): 18,000 yen to be covered by the volunteer.

Schedule:
Developing an evacuation route with the local volunteers at Ogatsu-cho, Ishinomaki on both days.

* Depending on the number of volunteers sign up, this project might be aborted.
* HOT will arrange for lodging and transportation at the site.
* Project activities at the site may change depending on local needs at that time.
* Volunteers must be at least 16 years old; volunteers under 18 years old will need permission from a guardian to attend.
* All volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver form.
* After sign up, project details will be e-mailed to you by a HOT staff.
