Hakujuso Senior Home

In this project, you will work with senior citizens living at Hakujuso Senior Home, providing a fun and interesting experience for the senior residents through interaction with volunteers of all ages and nationalities.

Location: Hakujuso Senior Home (it's located inside of the Airinkai, Social Welfare Service Corporation)

What to bring: Slippers to wear inside the Senior home.

KoKo Club (Bunkyou Kumin Center 2B) (2)

In this project, you will hold conversations in English with high students to recent graduates with visual impairment. In order to enhance their English conversational skills and knowledge of other countries, we will discuss on a variety of fun topics. (Students from the Blind Tennis Project are participating!)

Activity time: 9:45 - 12:00

Location: Bunkyou Kumin Center
Guidelines: Volunteers must be at least 15 years old and be able to speak conversational Japanese. (JLPT 4 or above)

Tango Therapy Project (Platinum Villa Kodaira)

Saturday, July 20    12:45 - 15:00

Tango will be taught by instructors at the elderly care center. They will support the elderly during the dance as to avoid any accidents. The dance will be very simple and easy. It will be a good activity to move along with music!

Meeting time: 12:45 Please be punctual! We will go to the site together.
*You are responsible for your transportation. We will take a bus to return to Kodaira Station from the venue.

Meeting Place: Seibu Shinjuku Line Kodaira Station, Main Gate

Activity Location: Platinum Villa Kodaira (1-85-1, Suzukicho Kodaira, Tokyo)

Event Guidelines: Families and children of all ages welcome! Basic Japanese skills desirable (left, right, stop, let's take a break etc.).

What to bring: It is important to bring shoes that are stable and comfortable. Heels or platforms will not be allowed.

What to wear: Comfortable clothes that are clean and easy to move around in.

*Argentinean tango works as a strong therapy for people that suffer from depression and elderly that look for an enjoyable activity for exercise. The tango therapy webpage can be found using the following link: http://tangotherapy.wix.com/japan

Wakabaryo Children's Home 1

Saturday, July 20    10:00 - 12:00

In this project, you will work with children (3-18 years old) living at Wakabaryo Children's Home. The children will be divided into one of two groups depending on their age.
Under 6 years old: Volunteers will play with children with toys, cards or other games.
Elementary and Junior high school: Volunteers will enjoy gardening with children. If it rains, we will create artwork using beads or clay, or play with board games.

Meeting Place: Wakabaryo meeting room (2F) (it's located inside of the Airinkai, Social Welfare Service Corporation)

Event Guidelines: Volunters must be at least 16 years old.

What to wear:
- Wear comfortable casual clothes that are easy to move around in. Make sure they are not too revealing. No short pants, no sleeveless shirts.
- Remove any rings or jewelry with large stones as well as long artificial nails.
- Refrain from wearing strong perfumes as some children are very sensitive to smell

What to bring: Drink, Towel, suntan cream, insect repellant. Slippers to wear inside the children’s home.
