Day Of Service is an event day which is held for Hands On Tokyo’s partner organizations, corporate sponsors and volunteers to join and spend a fruitful and fun time all together. This year, also, we will hold this event at the Higashi Azabu Kumin Kyodo Space for anyone to interact with one another, and to get to know about Hands On Tokyo’s activities.


Sunday, October 4th, 2015

Venue: Higashi Azabu Kumin Kyodo Space (former Iikura Elementary School)
          2-1-1 Higashi-Azabu, Minato-ku
- a 5 minute walk from Akabanebashi station (Exit Nakanohashiguchi)
- a 7 minute walk from Kamiyacho Station (Exit 2)
- a 8 minute walk from Azabujuban Station (Exit 6)

Clothes: Please wear comfortable clothes. Day Of Service T-shirts will be provided at the reception. (It is possible to participate in as many activities as you like, but each person will receive only one T-shirt.)        
*People at the age of 13 and over can participate as volunteers
*Please pay for your own lunch, transportation, etc.
*After the event, please join us in a planned simple gathering if your time allows.

Please register at the reception by 15 minutes before the meeting time of each activity, and receive a T-shirt.
*Participants for the activity from 10:00 should complete their registrations by 9:45, and for the one from 12:30, likewise, by 12:15.

[Reception]
To assist at the reception registration for volunteers, partners, and visitors.
Once registered at the reception, tasks will involve: registration of general volunteers, marking attendances of partner organizations, selling tickets, distributing T-shirts and drinking water, putting up posters, placing trash bags, etc.

12:30 - 15:00 (7 volunteers)

[Petting zoo]
To assist at the zoo by giving visitors food for animals and help them be able to enjoy petting animals safely.
The animals are as follows:
Turkeys, Guineafowls, Chickens, Japanese Bantams, Chicks, Geese, Ducks, Wild Ducks, Mice, White Goats, Black Goats, Dogs, Sheep, Rabbits, Guinea pigs
**requirements**
- must be able to touch and hold the animals listed above gently
- must have no resistance towards animal feces and must be able to clean it up
- must be able to instruct and advise children

[Hot Dog Booth]
To assist by grilling hot dogs and giving them to visitors.

["Pie Yakigama" Bake Sale]
"Pie Yakigama" is an employment support center run by Social Welfare Corporation Haru. You will assist them to sell the natural and additive-free baked goods they made with their hearts.

[Craft corner]
To assist with crafting, such as bracelets and eco-bags.

[Wheelchair and Braille Blocks Experience and a Service Dog Demonstration]
To assist visitors trying out wheelchairs and walking on studded paving blocks to aid the blind. Also to help at a service dog booth.

[Chili & Drink Booth]
To help sell chili and drinks

[Facepainting]
To decorate faces by painting and using stickers.

[Fire fighting Booth]
To make sure visitors have a safe experience of fire fighting. This includes extinguishing fire, using AED and first aid, experiencing an earthquake simulation (afternoon), etc.

[Attendance to students of Special Needs Education School for the visually impaired, University of Tsukuba]
To assist students with visual impairment on the way to and from the event. There will be an orientation for about 30 minutes which will give instructions on how to guide the students, so that anybody without experience can participate.
