■ AYUMO × ASIJ
On January 13, 2024 the Ayumo project did a collaboration event with the ASIJ (American school in Japan).
The topic of the event was Celebrating new year traditions in Japan. Volunteer students and teachers from the ASIJ came to support the Ukrainian evacuees community by creating a welcome space, teaching Japanese culture, and sharing warm experiences together. For adults the volunteers prepared some calligraphy master class, (learning to write the 辰 kanji) and for the children, the volunteers prepared a variety of traditional Japanese games and activities such as Koma, Kendama, Fukuwarai and others.
With the support of many individual volunteers, we were able to cater delicious hot food, snacks, beverages for people to share during conversations. This is always a great networking opportunity for both Ukrainian adults and children to meet new people, make friends, learn new things about the Japanese culture. For the children it is always so much fun and joy to play, and to make new friends with both Japanese and foreign nationality volunteer students.
